2nd West Nile Virus Mosquito Pool Detected

A pool of mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile Virus (a few miles south of Twin Falls and Kimberly). The total number of mosquitoes in the trap collected were two. Overall, mosquito trap counts are declining, but the Twin Falls County Pest Abatement District encourages residents and recreationalists to take precautions to protect themselves from the virus by wearing long sleeves and using an EPA approved repellant. West Nile Virus is endemic to Idaho, so we will see it every year. Not every mosquito can transmit the virus, but the safest course of action is to reduce your exposure to mosquito bites.
