Mosquito Surveillance Update

Surveillance trapping for the month of July yielded higher than average numbers of mosquitoes. Much of this is due to higher than average hot days and warm nights. With the night time lows between 60-70 degrees for most of the month of July, mosquito larvae and pupae were able to hatch out typically in less than seven days! Trapping of adult mosquitoes, and testing for West Nile Virus (WNV) started in May, and will continue until weather conditions are no longer favorable to adult mosquitoes. Year to date, no WNV has been detected. For any questions, please contact manager@tfcpad.org for more information!
